Debit Card Terminal

Debit Card Terminal is really the same thing as a credit card terminal. The technology exists in the majority of these terminals to offer a debit card solution.

The factor that influences this is the payment platform and its compatibility with the debit card networks. If the platform can connect to and “authorize” a payment, these terminals will work.

The other factor that will determine whether a debit card terminal will work as a merchant requires is the pin pad. Most terminals will have either an integrated pin pad (i.e. the number pad on the terminal itself) or a separate connector that has the 10 digits plus the “yes” or “no” buttons.

Debit cards that are Visa or MasterCard branded cards will work the same as a regular credit card when a merchant isn’t enable to accept pin-based cards.
