i genuinely want to be added on my parents car policy just for occasional use, i am 17 and all the quotes i have got are still riddiculously priced as insurance companies base prices on youngest driver on policy even if they are additional driver
None do now as they have had to do this to prevent the none genuine ones. You would have no choice anyway as your parents are presumably alreadt insured with someone so that is who would need to add you.

insurance is out of control in uk/just on this site today is one of the reasons/out of control driver that ‘does no frikin harm" she thinks banging into 2 cars should not be looked at badly/she hit one and trying to escape smashed another//no guilt just resentment/until uk gets drivers ages up and attitudes changed you are doomed
