18 year old car insurance quotes?

I passed my driving test 2 months ago live in a small village and have a full time job i am 18 years old.recently i have been looking around for car insurance quotes for the obvious 1st cars 106s,corsas etc and the lowest quote iv had is still over 3 grand these are all of compare sites aswell as admiral quinn and direct line, surely this carnt be right?

this is on my own insurance as the main policy holder, because apparently you carnt go on your parents insurance anymore.

would appreciate any help
Thanks
ive tried them andrew but thanks, all i can say is alot of teenagers parents must have deep pockets or there doing it illegally .

Unfortunately for you due to recent general insurance price rises and the fact that a few insurers have stopped doing teen cover the rest that do still do it hacve increased their rates dramatically and the quotes you have got are potentially the going rate.

To combat the "Fronting", where a parent is illegally and fraudulently declared a main driver, many insurers now simply base the cost on the youngest driver on the policy and so there is no point .

Teens are now being forced out of driving by the insurance cost and it is simply because the insurers know that one in 4 of you will make a claim in the first year. On that basis would you insure 4 random 18 year olds knowing that one of them is most likely to be claiming from you?
